03 · Breathe

A guide for slow breathing

An orb that swells as you breathe in and settles as you breathe out, with the words and counts on screen. Pick a rhythm, a length, and let the background breathe with you.

  • Four patterns: coherent, 4-7-8, box, long exhale
  • 1 to 10 minutes, or open-ended
  • Optional soft tones and slow-breath music
  • Reduced motion? You get a progress ring and counts instead

08 · Questions

Good to know

What is the best free relaxing music?

Slow, soft and wordless music with no sudden changes. Start with Quiet Mind for calm, Evening Unwind after work, or Slow Breath to breathe along. If you like the sound of weather, try Rainy Day Calm or By the Water and add the rain or ocean layer in the sound mixer.

Is this relaxing music really free?

Yes. Every track streams free here with no sign-up and no ads, and every track has a free MP3 download. The music is by Purrple Cat and licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).

How does the guided breathing work?

Press Breathe and pick a pattern: coherent 5.5, 4-7-8, box breathing or a long exhale. A soft orb grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out, with the words and counts on screen. It’s for relaxation only, not medical advice.

What are the sound layers?

Rain, ocean, fire, wind and a deep hum, generated live in your browser with Web Audio. There are no sound files and nothing to download. Mix them under the music to taste, or pick a preset such as Rainy window or Fireside.

Does it have a sleep timer?

Yes. Choose 15 minutes to 1.5 hours and a fade length. The music and the sound layers fade out together, the page slowly dims, and everything stops.

Can I use this music in my videos and livestreams?

Yes, with credit. Use it on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch and all social media, in videos and livestreams. Add the credit “Music by Purrple Cat”.

Will my videos get Content ID claims?

No. The music is not registered with Content ID, so your videos, streams and VODs won’t be claimed for it.

Can I upload the music to Spotify or Apple Music?

No. The music must never be uploaded to music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer or Tidal. That includes remixes, samples and covers of it.

Can I listen offline?

Yes. Download any track as an MP3, or save a whole playlist as an M3U8 file and open it in VLC or any media player.

Who makes the music?

Purrple Cat, an independent lofi project with 500+ songs. Every track here is an original instrumental.
